For the upcoming release of the Final Fantasy RPG 3rd Edition. Illustration for a playable race.
A diminutive race of magically-active beings, the Tarutaru – or ‘Taru’ for short – are characterised by round, babyish faces, large eyes, pronounced Elfin ears and bear-like features. In proportion they are equivalent to human children, large heads topping a pudgy, short-limbed body – a combination which appears utterly harmless up until the point the fireballs start flying. Some speculate the Tarutarus’ innate mastery of magic is a kind of acquired survival trait; lacking the endurance and strength to be serious warriors, the little creatures have little else protecting them from the dangers of the world around them. The Tarutaru themselves call it a mark of divine favor; while not all of their number tread the spellcaster’s path, those who do do so wield powers most races only dare to dream of.
